Spawn Ratio
    #4557294 - 08/20/05 01:37 AM (11 years, 4 months ago)

Trying to figure out some spawn ratio math..

If inoculating at a 10% ratio in terms of cubic feet, 1 cubic foot of spawn can inoculate 10 cubic feet of substrate. So my question is, what is one cubic foot of spawn equal to? In terms of spawn bags, I measured the spawn in the bags im using and they seem to equal around 4"x6"x8" of actual grain.

I need a math wizard! :smile:

1 cubic feet = 28.316847 liters [L]
= 6.428512 dry gallons (US)
=

4"x6"x8" = 192"
= 3.146316 liters [L]
= 0.714279 dry gallons (US)
= 0.111111 cubic feet

assuming that your measures are right and your spawn bags are like
a Rectangular Prism, the volume of a rectangular prism can be found by the formula: volume=length*width*height. Your spawn bags are just enough to inoculate 1 cubic feet of substrate [11,1(1)%].

so 1 cubic foot of spawn = 10 cubic feet of substrate

thanks i follow most of that...

essentially 1 bag can inoc 1 cubic foot of substrate, so ten bags would be around 1 cubic foot and be enough to inoc 10 cubic feet of substrate at 10%

appreciated
