Casing and cakes
    #4556286 - 08/19/05 05:55 PM (19 years, 4 months ago)

A Good Afternoon To You All,

Is it advisable to birth a casing and 2 cakes in the same fruiting chamber? Will the RH be too high for the casing? I don't have a RH meter but there's usually water droplets on the sides of the chamber. And the cakes are on their 2nd flush. I will be able to birth the casing in a day or so.

Thanks for your thoughts,

No it wont hurt, you usually want the casing in 95-100 percent humidity until pins form anyways. Although your technically supposed to drop the RH down to about 70 after pin formation, the only real side effect ive noticed is that you get mycellium that likes to climb up the stalk of the mushroom.

Thanks, I had a lot of myc climbng up the stalk on my cakes in my first grow.

On a more personal note, I could not have done any of this wonderful hobby without the guidance shared in this community. Y'all are the greatest, I just wish I could pay you back somehow.

The myc that grows on the stems disappear when you dry them anyways, so do it up.

No thats not completely true. I have stems with THICK mycellium growth that just dry out and do remain visible on the base after drying.

I'm doing the same thing right now. I'm down to 2 cakes and one casing in a 10 gallon aquarium. Let me know how your grow goes!
