Today's Hunt (with pics)
    #4556610 - 08/19/05 09:41 PM (11 years, 10 months ago)

Today I went looking for Panaeolus subbalteatus in rotting hay at a field near my house, but I found none. So instead I picked some haymaker's mushrooms (Panaeolina foenisecii) growing around buildings.

The whole pile

Another shot of the pile

Bad close-up of three little ones

Another bad close-up (the sun was in my eyes). Some of the larger specimens had flattened caps. This one is nearly flat, but not as flat as some other ones I picked.

I've read that Panaeolina foenisecii give a relaxing feeling, so I am going to make this whole pile into tea.

Thanks for looking

Nice find man. Having never ingested Panaeolina foenisecii before, I couldn't vouch for the relaxing feeling. In any case, have a nice trip!

yes definatly print them, there are some possible subbs in there!!! and yes foes are very slightly active. you'd have to eat almost 100g to trip though. yes you'd probably get sick to your stomach. but im sure if you make enough into a tea there might be some slight relaxation. whatev, just print those babies!!! good luck

panaeolina foenisecii is not active and psiloc(yb)in does not cause relaxation.

please refrain from spreading misinformation.

Panaeolina foenisecii don't have flat caps, i think some of those could Panaeolus subbalteatus, but some of your specimens are clearly inactive.
Take prints.

I started drying them so I couldn't print them, but some of the caps that were separated from the stems dropped black spores. A few of them sure look like subbs to me, but mjshroomer says that they never grow on lawns. But mushrooms are very mysterious, so you never know, they may be subbalteatus. I'll just eat them all and see if I feel anything.
