Another Oyster Q
    #4556362 - 08/19/05 08:17 PM (11 years, 5 months ago)

First off, sorry for asking all these questions. I have read alot of recent threads, and there seems to be quite alot of mixed opinions. I have 8 pints of Pink and Pheonix oysters knocked up on straight WBS. Is this sufficient to fruit off of, or should I spawn it to maybe a straw/verm mix and then fruit? Thanx for the advice. :mushroomgrow:

id definetly go with the straw, no need for verm.. make sure you chop it well, dry in a blender works nicely.. pasteurize it for an hour in hot water like 170degrees.. after its strained and cooled just spawn it and stuff it into a bag.. make sure to poke holes in the bag to let the myc breath threwout..

What is WBS? That is what you used to spawn it right? So you spawned the prints on "WBS" and now you are goign to transfer to straw to fruit...

I'm asking because I am going to be doing this soon, so I don't want to mess up

WBS is Wild Bird Seed. I knocked that up with an LC. (Liquid Culture)And yes, after it's colonized, I'm going to transfer to straw.

Most people don't use perlite in there substrate. At least that I'm aware of.

hi mate..you should try...with perlite and bran mycelium grows VERY vigorous and fast..but after this step i can't enlarge the amount of mycelium..i tryed with wheat straw, sorghum, wheat..i hope that with the cold it will better.
