Eating mushies & Cobweb
    #4556109 - 08/19/05 06:55 PM (11 years, 2 months ago)

I've looked quite a few places, and cant seem to find an answer to this question.

I hear that eating mushies that have been grown in or near the meanie greenie would make you sick.  Exactly how sick are we talking?  Fever? Allergic reaction? Nausea? Vomiting? Diarrhea? All of the above?

Okay, so yeah, eating mushies with a green contam is bad.

What about cobweb mold?  How sick does this make you?  How nasty does the cobweb have to be before you should throw them out?

I'm asking the question because I believe I have a cobweb contam that doesnt look too bad, and I have 11 pins on a cake.  It's been sprayed with H2O2 but I am curious if people have eaten mushies grown around BAD cobweb before and how they felt. (as I'm sure a few desperate people have tried it. :tongue2:)

Thanks in advance.

well, I know people that have eaten shrooms that have grown on or near mold and have been fine. It all depends on you, each person is different. Sometimes when there is one type of mold, there are others and also black mold, and that can make you very sick.

I don't know if the "levels" of sickness should be a deciding factor as to wether you should eat them or not.

The way I look at it is this. If you don't eat a piece of moldy bread, why eat moldy shrooms? It is basically up to you. If you think it is worth it then do it. I would suggest against it. you should be able to get rid of the cobweb with some h202 though.
