How do these look (day 6 after inoc)
    #4555281 - 08/19/05 12:04 PM (18 years, 7 months ago)

These are pics of 2 sides of the jar. It's my webcam thats making the growth look kinda grey. So, how do they look? Oh, it's Treasure Coast strain.

Not the best quality pics, but looks like some good colonization after 6 days.

well, what is your incubation temps? I have never grown treasure coast personally so I don't know how they are on colonization times.

Usually in 6 days I have about 80%+ colonization...that's why i'm asking your conditions. Looks like you have some growth, but very little. should be much more in 6 days, unless you are doing it at room temp. could also be moisture issues.

Ya. The temps are at non- air conditioned room temperature (about 76-80~f), but sometimes I keep them around 85`f. Just been lazy. Plus, These jars were extremely over-inoculated. 5cc's per jar at 5 injection sites.LOL.

Wow! 5cc's per 1/2 pint. That could also be the problem. To much water can potentially cause problems with the little guys. Keep the temps around 80 and see what happens. GL!

I also have some jars of Cub B+ and Golden Teachers going too. And they were over done also. The Golden Teacher jars have alot more growth, but in a different way.Instead of big, cottony pieces, They have a light coverage over most of the surface area. And the Cub B+ have little "cotton"balls about the size of a pea, here and there. You cant tell in the pic, but the growth on those tc's are Very "strandy". Like a snowflake or something.

Let me get this straight...You were getting 80+% colonisation on BRF using a spore inoculation?? Thats sounds pretty hard to believe.

in 6 days sure....how is that hard to believe. I usually, on average, get full colonization in about 8 days for 1/2pt jars. That is pretty normal to me. A lot of other users see the same growth rate. The average time for full colonization is 7-14 days, so that is quite normal. If you use a substrate like coir/brf mixture it will be even faster, mycelium tears throught that stuff.

I just created an LC of oysters a couple days ago(not active). 2 days after inoculation i'm at about 80%, but that is because 1. it was an LC and 2. oyster mycelium is very aggresive and a very fast colonizer. So long as you keep your temps very constant you should be fine. of course strain and species could play a roll in that as well.

I posted a grow log a while back (burma from multispore) that showed the full growth, jars and all...all dated and updated every other day or so...i'll see if i can find the thread for you. 8 days full jar colonization, 1 day dunk, 3 day coir casing incubation, 8 days fruiting to fully matured fruits. about 20 days for the full grow....usually for casings full grow it takes me 20-26 days for full mature fruits. I really don't see what is so hard to believe about that.

If it is taking you much longer than that, you are not growing in optimal condiditions, or it has something to do with the strain/species of mushrooms. He is also saying that he is growing GT's so that doesn't surprise me.
