Hello, Loriath!

Your mushroom reminds me of Psathyrella candolleana (Suburban Psathyrella) - google for its accurate description and photos, and compare to your specimen. But I'm really not sure. Wait and see what others have to say.

I think you can choose in your preferences whether or not the images you put in are thumbnailed. Not sure though.

i'm sorry i'm new to mushroom hunting as well, i was surprised at how many different mushrooms are around my place, most of which growing near running water. My question is, what is an active and a non-active mushroom? I want to try and grow these in my aquarium, not for consumption, just for the looks. Does anyone know how i could go about doing this?

edit: as for the large pictures, i uploaded them to photobucket.com and than used the [IMG] tag to post it, and it posts it the size of the picture. I did this cause i thought it would be easier to see.

That growth habit is very typical of Psathyrella candolleana, as ivi mentioned. The small one would need to be examined more closely for an ID.

Although P. candolleana is an edible mushroom, the difficulty of identifying it accurately means that it is generally not recommended for eating.

Happy mushrooming!
