How do we choose?
    #4554772 - 08/19/05 10:49 AM (11 years, 3 months ago)

How do we learn what we want from our lives? Mostly, in the process of being programmed into our particular culture, we come to believe that the programming is our original thoughts or our nature. Or who we are.

Some get a hint of this and begin to explore their surroundings on their own, as much as possible, with the ensuing confusion of exploring new ground of being. We try out everything and supposedly choose our own belief system. Yet often we come to adopt a stance that ignores certain facts or possibilities, and once again fall into our cultural programming with out being aware of it. Mostly because our programming, through the ego, wants to continue with the original belief, believing it to be the only secure path. Because the outer package is changed we choose to fool ourselves that the inner has also. Often this is fear, based on early childhood trauma which the undeveloped ego structure, somewhat effectively, saves us from. Because to a child trauma means possible death.

So...

How do we stay on track when finding out what is real, true and what we decided to believe?

I believe this is the missing ingredient. On must explore everything equally and WITHOUT AMBITION.

In other words you have to know your own cultural programming well enough to know when your past, emotionally charged programs, are influencing your present decisions. And without greed or envy or ect.

i was watching the way a plan was tossed in and out of "next", or "yes I will", and "maybe not"
the plan was an idea the day before.
it was no more than a flat cartoon of a decision - just an idea, clear origin.
something I could have come up with at any time or not.
still it was strongly connected to my timer - to be considered when I woke up.
should this be in the motivation thread?

I like plastic. I use them for my garbage bags and storage ect. and so get double and sometimes triple or more duty from them. I have tried paper thinking it was better for the environment,( everybody said so)but ended up only using them once because they aren't dependable and so just wasted the trees and ended up with this big pile in my house that got tossed. See how it works.
