it's microscopic plants like algae, it's got really high tryptophan levels according to

http://www.nutritiondata.com/nutrient-search.html

some guy posted about it and i put it on my favorites. go try it for yourself, but make sure at the bottom to use the per 100 gram serving.

sure you can add it but will it actualy do any good, there hasnt been anything
showing that tryptophan will actualy increase potency in mushrooms, by consuming
tryptophan directly only a minimal amount makes it you your brain to help produce
serotonin, whats more, if it did it may just put you to sleep

tryptamine has been added to substrates and has made minimal differences

I think many eople confuse it with tryptamine

but i'm saying what about the extra nutrients, spirulina is one of the most nutritious plant forms for humans, containing almost everything our bodies need to survive, do you think it could benefit mushrooms at all? regardless of the tryptophan?

possibly, the only way to tell is to try it using a control without spirulina

Ive used a product called algae nutrio before in regular BRF and WBS teks
I bought it from this site
http://www.sourcevital.com/
It helps because its really nutricious, I forget how much it costs
I take it as a supplement also and gives me good energy

yeah thats spirulina..though.. from that site: "Because of this highly alkaline condition of the waters, spirulina becomes highly resistant to disease, other microorganisms and natural enemies." do you think this implies that mycelium would have trouble colonizing a substrate that contained spirulina? or would the nutrients outweigh its defense to microorganisms? would this help fight contaminants? have no effect as it refers to when the spirulina is alive? ... curious hehe

but ya, if you pressure cook it the spirulina would die because of too much heat, there's this one grass substrate tek that i read that said to make sure the grass's cell walls were to be broken down by boiling, and wouldn't that be the same as spirulina's cell walls breaking down?

and thanks prisoner, i think i will try using a control.

It would not be contam resistant because its highly nutricious, I need to do a side by side comparison
I usually powder up about 2-3 when mixing BRF or WBS
I used it to hydrate some cakes a long time ago and they contammed  you have to use it when loading your jars before PCing
