Artificial lighting
    #4549984 - 08/18/05 01:20 AM (18 years, 6 months ago)

I'm going to set up a grow room for my plants and I don't know anything about lighting. Are there any good resources on this topic I should be aware of?

Some of the shit I've got going:
Various cacti including Tric., Loph., Astrophytum, ect
Sarracenia, Dioneae, Drosera, Pinguicula
Salvia

might try a poppy or two if it is deemed feasible.

edit-
cacti will probably have to be under a different system?

Get a High pressure sodium light. They get real hot, and the ballest gets even hotter, 50w a sq foot would be enough for sure. 4' florecents are alright too, theyre preaty cheap.
Insidesun is a good online company.

Cool. I was thinking about getting a small array of compact flourescents or is that not enough power? Overgrow mentions it working for marijuana...

Thanks alot Rah!

you really need a HPS, or a agrosun bulb, that what I use,
I never messed with flourescents, except for starting seeds.

Floros Work Very well for suplementing HIDs But should never replace them. If you ever want flowers stick with the good shtuff.

I think you would need a shade screen to protect them... if they're still wee.
