One of the worst things in life
    #4554069 - 08/18/05 11:51 PM (18 years, 7 months ago)

would have to be watching your parents age.
I've never even thought about them getting old until recently.

They've been through more than you can imagine in life.
Always getting fucked over by someone, and they are such nice people.
It's rare to come across a couple around here that have been together for 24 years and still love eachother.

My dad's hair is starting to turn completely grey, along with loss of hearing.
My mom's eyes are going bad.
They always complain about being in pain also.

This is deffinately one of the worst things imaginable.

I'm going to go help my dad install a fence tomorrow, only because his back is going. I'm not looking forward to it, but spending time with my parents is priceless. I love them.

I know a lot of you are older. If you were close with your parent(s) did it hurt you to see them get old?

The thing I can't imagine happening is watching my parents die. But it will happen. It's too real. I don't know if I can handle it....

I never got to see my biological parents grow truly old, they having died at a relatively young age. But I do get to see my foster parents growing older by the day. Just last Christmas, I was thinking how old my step-mom was getting to be. She's sort of shrunk and getting a lot of grey. My step-dad has been looking old for some time, but always seemed pretty vigorous, all things considered. That is until last spring, when we lost him. So, it's always a good idea to spend time with your parent, because you can never tell when you're going to lose them....

I feel that way about my mother. That will easily be the worst day of my life. I love that woman more than anything.

i know exactly what you mean... my dad just had eye surgery, and my mom is not doing that well, either... thinking about the fact that someday they will not be here anymore is very overwhelming...

I too know exactly what all you guys mean. My mom was like super-mom...always had a meal cooked for when we got home from school, made my and my two sisters' halloween costumes every year, everybody liked her.

Then out of the blue she gets cancer, and passed away last January. Worst thing in my life. I wouldn't wish it to happen on my most hated enemies.

I know exactly what your talking about meat...

My dad is getting older too... I see the grey hair, it's becoming more pronounced now. It's so sad that they are getting old now, they've been here for my whole life. It's just crazy to think that sometime, they will be gone from my life. Wow, it makes you think.

my mom is getting more and more dependant everyday. It's hard to watch her go through the change. She needs back surgery can't work and SS is jackin her around right now. I'm really frustrated, mad, annoyed, and regretful that I can't do much to help her. She's getting senile too. I'm 22 and I think I'm gonna have to move my mom in with me (I havn't lived with her since I was 15) so I can take care of her. I don't want to have my mom live with me, and I feel guilty for it. She's real dramatic and I wonder if it's really as bad as she makes it. Sometimes I think she's already given up or if that's just her angle to get her way. I don't know... She just misses her kids I know but damn...

they say you can only hate someone as much as you love them, and she's got some big demons and angels on my shoulders right now... I've been ignoring all three of them... my conscious has never been so heavy!
