Mixing Strains

Hey,
What happens if you mix strains. This is not to say that I am eager to indulge in some experiment to try something new. It's just that I have a certain amount of jars and I would like to do another bulk cultivation..so I was thinking of mixing them together.
Thanks.

So it would be okay to mix them?

Neither strain would fruit to it's full potential and you'd probably have a disappointing harvest.

It just shows the power of experimentation. Never accept any 'rules' for growing mushrooms. Consider advice to be 'guidelines' and take it from there.
Remember, if us humans never experimented, we'd all still be living in caves.
By the way, 'strains' mix fine, especially if you start from spores. Spores from the species cubensis are compatible with other spores from the same species, regardless of where in the world they originated. RR

Both sub strains will grow in your casing. RR you still working on a hybrid?

Now I wanna try this also It just seems like such a nice little mushroom utopia to have many different strains living in harmony on the same cake/in the same FC. The global melting pot
Thanks for the idea!

For best results, mix them at inoculation, not at casing. Bear in mind, these won't be hybrids. RR

Maybe. The dikaryons might or might not merge into one organism. There's no guarantees. RR
