Sound Editing Programs??
    #4553760 - 08/19/05 12:25 AM (11 years, 2 months ago)

Hi, I was wondering if anyone knows any good sound editing programs that are used to create music, such as beats, techno, trance, or any music? I have adobe addition but you cant really "create" music with it.

Audition is an actual sound editing/recording program. You want something like fruity loops which gives you pre-made noises and stuff and suddenly everyone can make unoriginal music as if they had a drum machine or synth:-)

If you're into working almost entirely with loops, I'd get ACID. It comes with a bunch of bass, drum, guitar, synth, sfx loops that you can cut up and place however you want. To get a little more in-depth, try SONAR, a great program that lets you go deeper with effects and automation (changing volume, pan, effects, etc. on the fly). I haven't used REASON or LOGIC but I hear they're also good.

As far as actual sound editing goes, I use WaveLab. It does things like effects across a whole file, cutting and pasting edits, and it has its own CD authoring module.

I suggest...ACID, Reason, Logic, or Propellerhead...Sonic Foundry's Vegas Audio is pretty good too if you don't have the extra cash to put out..
