Control?
    #4553368 - 08/18/05 10:35 PM (12 years, 1 month ago)

The idea of control is quite interesting to me. I want to give an example(and take it as an example please)

Control of time...impossible? yay or nay?

In a sense, I feel I can control time. I go to work, which is a labour intesified job. Now, I can personally choose how fast time goes by. If I decide to make an honest attempt to take my mind off time by not looking at my watch and doing my job...it will go by faster than when I glance at my watch or pay attention to time in my head. If I try to make an honest attempt to take my mind off time by not only keeping distracted but by forcing myself to think time is going faster, while keeping my mind so distracted I can't even think about thinking...you know what I mean?

When I do that, without fail everytime, I'm amazed at how fast time goes. The lunch horn goes and I question it's validity.

I believe just by that example alone...I do have a form of control over time. Just staying that comment, "I control time" is quite a statement.

as einstien said, time is different for each and every individual, changing as the individual changes their speed of motion and the gravitational forces acting upon them

thats not a direct quote, just my summary.

and its not that you have control over it, its that you choose to ignore it rather than pay a conscious note to it, the time really doesnt go faster, just you ignore it and by doing so it passes quicker to you (not phsyically, merely in your conscious understanding it)

I perceive time as a measurement made by man to encompass life. How can you measure something that has no beginning or end? Most of my friend's seem to feel the same way. But it is just a concept.

... and a good concept at that. Time is definately not a constant. I constantly say how fast time goes is proportionate to your level of involvement in the moment. Time seems to go quickly when being fully engaged in what you are doing. Deepak refers to this as the zero entropy point where you experience little friction with the world in motion because you are moving with it in alignment/harmony. Time doesn't go faster or slower or anything in between because its simply a way of measuring linear events that unfold for us. Its not a real thing. Trust me, I'm 685 years old and look how young I look in my Avatar...

No no no... I believe that you are talking about the relativity of outside to internal time ...

On the outside, it sure does appear rather constant in terms of its unfolding...

What happens to you internally/mentally relative to your surroundings is another matter to be discussed.

"Control of time...impossible? yay or nay?"

I doubt that anyone could control time for anyone else but themselves.

Depending upon your level of focus on a particular thing, your perception of time could vary from fast to slow...

It all depends on which side of the bathroom door you find yourself...

Changing yourself isnt changing time. I mean, if learned how to freeze everything but myself, still wouldnt say I changed time. I have 'turned off time' while lucid dreaming. I was in my head for an eternity, I have years of memory from that shit. But when I woke up it was just the next morning. I believe in the bending of space time, but I still believe there is something bigger outside of that is unalterable.

What is time? Isn't it only a reference to the continuous expansion of space? Begun as a tiny white dwarf, then stretching its tissue furthur outwards.

It is a circle, as everything.

This means there is only a moment. Still. No timeline. To be floating in space in the moment as the moment, only each of us are the eyes of the world (of the moment) used as individual reference points, thus allowing for the illusion of moving forward.

Is this what it means to be "on the outside looking in"?

Also I never find total immersion in life to hasten my experience, time almost seem to stop when connecting accurately to breathing. Traffic slows down down down into slow motion as my own vibration lightens and speeds up, because I go faster.

Our goal should not be to speed up our perception of time, rather sinking deeply into all moments (during boring work-hours ie) really feeling boredom. What is it? Where does it start? How does it feel? Pretty comfortable, actually.
