Cased for 2 weeks, still nothing (now w/pics)

I've had a WBS cased with straight verm in a fruiting chamber for 2 weeks now and there's no pins or anything. It just stays chunky and white. I've even dunked it after a week and a half and put more verm on top and it hasn't done anything. Should I just keep waiting?
Here's a link to my grow log for more details: http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/4503223/an/0/page/0

Yeah, I guess this was my first real barrier in the process...everything else worked exactly how it was supposed to.

I dunno it doesn't look like it's going to do much of anything...just looks dead. It keeps getting fuzzier with myc but nothing's popping out.

I hope so. What are some signs that it won't do anything tho? Can a cake just die like that? If so, what does a dead cake look like?

Ok here are some pics. Some pieces of the cake look like they could be pins but it's just the way the flash lit the area.

As long as you follow the parameters outlined in my pinning strategy thread you will end up with very nice pinsets if your sterile culture technique isn't flawed that is. GL

No, but it could be a possible contam Your pins will look like small white dots. Just make sure they're getting their 12-16hrs. of light and plenty of fresh air exchanges and that humidity stays high 95% +/- 3%, I also personally like the fridge dunks with my cakes before they go into the fruiting chamber.

I'm guessing you're using perlite for humidifying the cased substrate. The RH could be a bit high for fruiting. One neat little tip for aiding in a good, healthy pin set is, once those rhizos peek up through the casing layer like that start to slowly drop the temperature in your grow area a couple degrees a day. This will cause evaproration of the casing layer and will promote knotting on the rhizos. A 5-6 degree drop within a couple of days is perfect. You'll start to see some knots and then you can start to increase your air exchange then. No misting of the casing layer at this point. 12 hours of indirect sunlight or a blue spectrum flourescent is key as well...

I can't really control the temp in my room. No AC or anything and I've been using the water bottles to drop the temp, but I wake up the next day and it's warmer again. I dunno if it's a contam...it hasn't spread to far at all, it's pretty much been the same size for the last 2-3 days.

Dropping your temp 10 degrees or so quickly from incubating to fruiting is a very helpful trigger. There is really no sense in doing it slowly as that just voids the usefulness of this pinning trigger.

Now my perlite is soaking wet and I still have dry looking cakes with no pins. I hate to say it but I don't think I'm getting a single mushroom on my first grow
