I don't know about Boston, but see of you have a Kitchens Etc. nearby.

They have tons of canning stuff.

I replied to this in another forum, but in case you didn't read that one, go to the True Value harware store on Salem St. in the North End. 12 half pint jars for $5.50. They always have them in stock.

I'd agree with Altarego....you'll definitely find 'em at Kitchen Etc. Walmart maybe.....
