How do you want to be remembered after you pass?

for all the chill people
Do you care how people will think of you after you die? It makes me sad that only a select few people will remember me after I die. What do I care? I don't know why I do, I wouldn't exist, in a manner of speaking. All's that would be left are just words, and memories. I guess I care, because that means i've never done anything of great achievement. That is, if no one keeps my name alive.
I'd like to be remembered as the person who would take a bullet for his friends and family. The guy that always tried to help someone in their time of need. The most selfless person that they've ever met. A reletive that would do anything for the family.
I want my brother and sister to tell their kids about how I used to be.
although i'm nothing special to most people I come across, there are special things about me that all can enjoy.
When i'm dead, i'm not going to know. It's just something i'd like at the moment. (my name being kept alive I meant) Is it odd to want to be remembered? Is this some kind of mental issue?
I wouldn't mind passing on right now. I see it as going at a prime age. I do have LOTS of years left to experience, but experience what? more hate, greed, life in general? I'd rather not to tell you the truth. I don't know if i'm scared of life or I just don't want anymore greef.
Lets say that you were to die right now. If you could be happy or sad, which would you feel about your life? Possibly angry because you didn't get to live up to your full potential?
If I was being held at gun point, I think the only thing that I'd be thinking about would be family and how sad they are going to be. When I die, I don't want them to be sad. I want them to realize, it's okay. Especially if I was trying to help/save one of my friends or family members in the incident. if I ever commit suicide, I want them to think, this was his choice, this is what he wanted. Lets not be sad, lets just remember the good times. I'm not saying that i'm going to commit myself to death, but you never know what life can throw at you.
I don't really know where i'm going with this, really. I just want to know if you'd be happy with yourself.
I know i'm not smart or anything, so please don't ruin this thread. It's simple for a lot of people, but it took me a while to think up.

As a rich, famous Nihilistic writer who'll pass through the ages.
Though realistically I'll probably be thought of as that drunken homeless bum begging for change to get his next fix.

I just want to leave behind art and have faith that it will have the effect I'd hope that it would have on other people.

I'm sure most suicidal people think the same thing, but rarely does it happen.
You're very altruistic it seems, always thinking of how your death will affect others and not yourself. I guess it's realistic though; you won't exist afterwards anyway, so you might as well think of those that will.

That was a good read man. Very well thought out.
Id want to be remembered for the person I am; no more, no less.
Don't really want to think about it too much. Death scares the fuck out of me. To think that I will cease to exist is not a very good thought.

I will be greatly remembered for many things... Good, or evil, I will be remembered. Scary, isn't it? I'm just crazy, I guess.
Then again, I'm hoping to arrange that I don't pass for a good long while, at that... eventually we all succumb, though, and I'll have long enough I'm gonna have done SOMETHING. I have to, it's all there is to me.

I want to be remembered. Period. I don't care how, I just want the memory of me to live on, and not be forgotton about 3 days after my funeral.

The thought of death used to scare me a lot more until I realized that I had not existed for who knows how long until I was born. I do not remember being unaware of my own existence so I imagine that being made unaware again won't be too unfamiliar.

I never really thought about it that way. Dammit, when I start thinking about things like this I don't stop for hours. Here's to another sleepless night of thought.

That's the exact way I think about it too. The experience after death will be the same experience before birth.

Show the people around you how to live. Buddha and Jesus represent a way of life, they lived a beautiful lives. I want people to create beautiful lives in the wake of my own. Not like a religion or anything, hehe.

You think Jesus had a beautiful life? Would you be willing to live it?
I think both of them were insane and starved with major logical deficiencies, but that's just me.

yes I do... the qualities in him that allowed him to persist is beautiful. regardless of if any of it's true or not but these characteristics are there. Not the bad things that happened to them. Life is what you make of it not what it makes of you.
I'm not christian btw. I'm indiscriminate in my studies.
