Needed to use some type of subsrate
    #454871 - 11/11/01 01:18 PM (15 years, 25 days ago)

I used Schultz soil potting mix which contained peatmoss, perlite, and lime. I put them in my pressure cooker and innculated them around three days ago. Is there any reason why this shouldnt work?

Potting mix is good for casing but it is a poor substrate because it has low nutrient value. You are likely to get some growth but don't expect a harvest.

I use shultz with spagnum moss and vermiculite, it works fine, i don't think it matters too much, considering they don't have any nutrients in them all they are is there to hold water and keep your flour from coagulating...it'll work, what substrate you use?

I wouldn't count on getting much from it without some rice flour or similar thing. Try birdseed if you have a pressure cooker... 2:1 ratio seed to water. Make sure you wash it off first.
