Help really needed...

Ok I have a couple straight verm casings that arent going anywhere. Its been about 3 weeks since I cased the cakes and nothing. I mean some of the casings have a bit of mycelium growth and some of the casings accidently started growing mushrooms.. but only one mushroom and its tiny. It was EQ. The other mushroom that was big was B+ but again only one mushroom from that. Its always at 90% humidity and 75-77 degrees. Lots of light. I find that when i turn the blue lights on in my room the mushrooms that are there (the only 2) grow alot within only a couple hours. Also I lost 4 jars worth of casing to green mold. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.. thanx alot!

What steps did you follow after caseing? did you let it re colonize the caseing or did you move right to the fruiting chamber?
how thick was the top caseing layer? has the top colonized at all?
i had the same problem with one of my first straight verm caseings. the problem was i had put to thick of a top layer for the ammount of mycelium i had. from that caseign i was only able to get 1 flush containg 3 shrooms. didn;'t think of it till after but i should have scraped some off the top and let it recolonize for a bit.

I dont knon man, try lowering the humidity a bit to around 80.
It could be that the myceiluml is fighting off green mold also (dont want to scare you, ) If you dont get pining in week or two then you probably have contams.
good luck

Just guessing, here, but you might have a matted casing layer. If so, you need to deep scatch. Another guess would be too wet.

I just got through with my first flush of cased EQ's on straight verm. Took forever for it to colonize the verm layer, I found out later that it usually takes longer for verm casings. I threw in the terrarium after about 3-4 weeks. Just hang in there. First flush was 23 grams dry. In the future I will not be using straight verm.

How would I go about doing this deep scratch if the top casing layer isnt colonized yet? And what do i do?

optikal_trip,
what PF says to do is scratch semi-deep grooves into the casing with a sterile fork.
