Too Late For Outdoor Cube Patch in Southern IL.??
    #4547160 - 08/17/05 03:02 PM (19 years, 5 months ago)

I live in Southern IL where its still about upper 80's on some days. Is it too late to spawn some colonized WBS to horse or cow manure outdoors?? I tried once earlier in the summer, but it got too hot and killed the myc. I would still have to colonized my WBS jars too though. It usually takes my jars 2-3 weeks to colonize, so i wouldn't actually start the patch untill about 1st week or 2 of september.

I am from northern IL. the weather we are having is far to hot and far to dry to have an outdoor bed going. This summer has been insainly hot here....you would not have success at that at all unless you had constant attention on it. humidity levels are extremely low and heat is far too hot.

im talking not putting them out until later towards fall. Like not spawning them outdoors in the poo until like mid september? Or a little earlier.

the late summer early fall should be sufficient, given it doesn't get too cold. i have outdoor patches that are withstanding 90+ degree weather... as long as you provide enough moisture and pick a nice shady spot they should fare well in wheather with temps in the 70s and 80s.
good luck
