I am just curious about what exactly happens to the mind when a person is breathing pure oxygen.

In such times as ours however, when there is too much order, too much m management, too much programming and control, it becomes the duty of superior men and women and women to fling their favorite monkey wrenches into the machinery. To relieve the repression of the human spirit, they must sow doubt and disruption" "People do it every day, they talk to themselves ... they see themselves as they'd like to be, they don't have the courage you have, to just run with it."

In japan there are O2 bars where people go and breathe oxigen istead of drinking. It's supposed to have mild relaxing effects.
They also give it to people that drink too much and get lethargic, don't really know why but i heard it works well in awakening them from their stupor.

I herd about injured people using oxygen to speed up the heeling process. I thought that they were placed in an air tight tube with pure oxygen then how could it be toxic?

Breating pure oxygen can kill you. I would imagine (imagine ... beacuse I dont actually know) that this air tight tube you speak of was filled with a solution of oxygen and some other gas. Just like how scuba tanks (sorry for my ignorance in terminology) don't give pure oxygen.

Those oxygen bars are in lots of big cities. I wouldn't say it does anything to you. Placebo if anything. I would think you could achieve the same by monitoring your breathing a la meditating.

Pure oxygen CAN have detrimental effects on your brain after prolonged use, but like many people said, it basically gets you stoned for a short period of time.
And yes, when they put injured athletes, from what I've read/heard, they put them into pressurized pure oxygen tanks. This helps speed up their healing times. With this kind of therapy, they only do it for about an hour a day.
