Is Manual Fanning + Misting Better?

I've got a 40 gallon aquarium set up for fruiting, but so far nothing is fruiting. I'm growing pan cyan hawaii. One week ago I put 2 small tubberware trays in. The substrate is 3/4" of cow dung, cased with a solid 1/4" of 50/50+. The mycelium popped up in a couple spots on the casing after 48 hrs incubation, so I covered those spots lightly and put them in the fruiting chamber. Now they're not doing anything. Could my casing be too thick? My fruiting chamber has two 5x10 tubberwares filled with perlite and h2o with bubble stones in each one. An aquarium pump comes on for 1 hour 6 times daily via timer, and pumps air to the bubble stones. The conditions inside are 75 degrees and 95% RH. I turned up the space heater in the room to try and get the fruiting chamber temp to 80 degrees tonight, and I'm leavng the light on. Should I try and just go to manual fanning and misting twice a day?

Straight coo poo will not work very well if at all, it's too dense when moistened, myc has a very hard time colonizing it.
Also if you are a beginner I definitely wouldn't recommened starting out with cyanescens, start with cubies to get the hang of it then work your way up.

Hey, you were right - I chopped up a couple casing for spawn. One was totally dry and dead. The other was really moist and only lightly colonized. Now I'm using 2 parts horse dung to 1 part vermiculite and 1 part perlite, and 1 cup of substrate is colonizing in a week :-) btw, I upped the heat in the Fruit chamber to 79-80 - I read that most problems come from too cool conditions. Are hyphael knots the very fuzzy mycelium clumps? And once I see these, what should I expect?

Actually 74-77F. is perfect for fruiting. Read more, you really want to understand the process then many of your questions that you haven't came up with yet will be answered as well. GL

Hey, I'm the newbie here, I'm sorry scatmanrav. Here's what I've been reading:
"With all that aside. If you can't maintain a temperature above 70 F in the fruiting chamber, you are going to have troubles. 80 F is where you want them. "

Hey, atleast I'm using the search function ;-) I'll turn it down, anyway.

To get more specific, do I need around 75, or atleast 75? Becasue the temp tends to vary +/- 1 degreee, so is 74 okay?

OMG! Pins! There are I think 4 right now on one casing. The other appears to have one long one coming up the side! I just went down and unplugged the heater, and then turned and saw them! What do I do?!?!?! This tek says not to fan http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/2293509/an/0/page/0 - so I'm unplugging my aquarium pump. The humidity stays high with it off, so I'll just be preventing air circulation. Am I trying to cause c02 to build up? btw, the pump usually comes on 6 times a day, is this too much? And

Whoa whooaaa. Now that they are pinning you want air circulation. They need fresh air to live my friend. Keep the pump going. You said it was set to come on 6 times a day? Well.. you want a lot of fresh air exchange, so have it on as much as you can without bringing the RH too low.

IME with pan cyans a little higher temp is better. 78-80F is a good temp for pinning Pans, but of course, im not as experienced as hyphae or scatman, so i could be wrong.

You are correct 75-80F. for Pans. Fanning reduces contams and makes for a much more prolific pinset FYI. You want lower CO2 levels at this stage other wise yields will suffer (skinny stems and small caps). GL guys

To reiterate 74-77F. is optimum meaning thoses temps will give you best results.
