man... give it time, bumping sucks. walmart, pesto, 6qt (fits 4pints, or 6 half pints, 7 if you squeeze, but whats the point? you are probably doing 12 anyways!) 30bux. 15psi, unless you are high altitude, in which case, try to get 20

The wallmart in my town sells a small fixed gauge 10 psi mirro that can hold a whoping three 1/2 pint jars for less than $20.00. Steam for 45-60 minutes and it should work fine. (many claim that 15 psi is needed, test reports claim that 10 psi will work just as well)

You'll probably want a 6quart model. Anything less and you'll just be wasting your time. This is one of the best investments you could make for your mushroom growing explorance so I suggest you save up and get a good one. Boiling jars in water for and hour always. I share a 90% success rate with that method. Also, make sure the pressure cooker is 15PSI.

here's the thing. i'm doing pf tek mahself. you dont NEED a pressure cooker to sterilize. you can use a deep pot with something to keep the jar off of the bottom otherwise it'll crack. also make sure when you heat it, the rubberr side of the lid is not facing down, otherwise the heat will seal it. peace, raj

Honestly, it can be done. I have seen total first time newbies sterlize jars via a regular pot. I know a guy that his first experience with the PF TEK and a pot resulted in only 1/2 jar being containamated. He fruited 9 1/2 jars out of ten. It really can be done, but a PC is better.

my friend boiled his jars and had 11/11 come out clean he is pretty sure.. the one that did get contaminated was from when he didn't pack enough verm on the top, and he was kinda bein rough with em.. some rice grains managed to move under one of the holes (untaped).. doh
