If I take a cake out of a jar (after it's covered in mycilium) can I crumble it into a larger container of substrate to get a larger yield?

This can be done two ways. You can take a small piece of colonized substrate and use it to inoculate another jar of sterile substrate. This requires good sterile technique. Or you can soak straw in boiling water and let it drain and crumble the cake into the straw after it has cooled to make a larger amount of substrate. Bulk straw teks are in the archives.

caseing is by definition non nutritious, and therefore what s/he is asking of is not called caseing.
they are asking about substrate expantion..
