The only approval ratings that matter are at the ballot box. Further, the decline in Bush's approval ratings might be solely attributed to Conservatives who think he is too liberal. There are a lot of them and they no longer feel the need to support a war president just because we're in a war. They're really pissed off about a lot of things from Medicare to the lack of action on SS to the apparent caving in to the lunatic fringe of the Democratic party on Supreme Court judges. The country is not going left. It wants Bush to join it more on the right.
And it is certainly correct that my rules were assinine. As was Maher's.

I was just throwin some might at ya. and everyone knows that approval ratings at the ballot box were not all counted so this is an invalid approval rating as well. (i'm refering to the uncounted votes in florida) Unfortunately it happens to be the governing approval rating.

New Rule #3 Anybody who thinks police and the justice department are too intrusive should have to supply their own security
Rule #4 Anybody who thinks that the government is too proactive in foreign affairs should provide for their own protection from foreign agencies both physically and economically.
Let's put all these morons in California and just leave them there. Then countdown until they either become extinct or realize that maybe the world isn't all Strawberry Fields and do something about it
Rule #X: In order to give away someone else's freedom, you have to give up one of your own.
We'll have a wheel that they can spin to see what they lose. For example:
Mrs. Kensington doesn't think people should be allowed to put cocaine in their butt.
She spins the wheel, and now she can't posess peanut butter or she goes to prison for 10 years.
The next guy has to pay a $50 fine every time he goes to church.
Rule X+1: The government can't inhibit my ability to protect myself in any way, not even from them. That means I can have rocket launchers, and all the Anthrax I want.
I'm placing these as riders on your bill.

Lol. great post.
I've actually heard Maher say he thinks the Iraq War might have been the thing to do and it might turn out okay. In my opinion, Maher is just a tool that helps promote stupid liberal ideology and gives dumb conservatives something to hate. He may not be as political as Ann Coulter but I can put them both in the same category. He is a comedian, not a political analyst. Al Franken has said some of the same asinine things on his Air America shows.

He did not say that the Iraq war was a good thing to do. He said that "now that we are at war, you have to root for the plan". He hopes that Iraq will turn out being a good thing in the end because we've already committed ourselves to it. He said that it's possible that we might not see the benefit of this war for years to come.
He gets insecure about sounding too liberal sometimes. Trust me, he is still very much against this war.
