due to my recent lack of funding i was wondering if anyone would be willing to purchase this if so please state how you would like it packaged and also in what quantities and how much do you feel would be a fair price for said amount.
this is just to see how many people would be interested
i will go to the post office on monday and check the s&h costs and then post how much i would be charging for say 5,10,15,and 20 pound quantities or more if i find anyone with special interests in higher quantities

If you know someone's zip code, you can easily calculate shipping on the USPS.com website, or ups.com (usually cheaper for stuff over 5lbs).

I'd only buy it if it came pre-sterilized.

10 pounds is 7.95 in any zone from there it get's crazy
if you send 15 pounds to(zoned by zipcode prefixs)zone 1 is 10.45 for 15 pounds zone 8 is 23.45. I would offer them at 10 pounds if you want to keep shipping around 8.00.
Go into your post office an ask for a priority mail shipping sheet and a zone chart, this should help you better plan your venture.

look into media mail for large shipments; i get castings for the garden shipped from a gardening store, they send 25 lbs media mail... takes a week, but its way cheaper...

The problem with sending things media mail is that the clerks are allowed to open it to verify the contents are media, like a video, a book, a cd-rom, or an album. If they open it and find cow shit, it will be scrutinized. At the very least, they send it along postage due calculated out to first class rate minus what you have on there for media rate. So for large parcels you could be talking a $25 postage due hit in order to get what anyone with a nearby pasture can get late at night with a flashlight. Sending media rate probably isn't a good ide for cow poo.

I have never heard of that being procedure to open something that is marked media mail. I have sent stuff all the time media mail that isn't and have never had a problem. Why would the clerk want to open a sealed up package just cause it is marked media mail and then have to go through all the trouble of resealing it. They always have huge lines in the post office....they just want to get you out of there as quick as possible so they don't get people to start yelling at them.
Sure it COULD happen....but how likely is it? I'd rather take the risk for the cheaper mailing then worry about a 1 in a million chance.
The main concern with media mail is breakage but if it isn't something breakable then there is no concern.

Or you could buy a bag of "cow manure" from the nursery. It's got the same ingredients as cow dung. Kinda pricey at $1-$2 for only 40 pounds though. If you're so serious about providing something "the community needs" make some compost from the dung. Even then no one actually "needs" anything sold here.

Why are you always putting stuff down?
If the community needs it let him sell it.
Is this REAL dung or bought dung?

Actually, I am a postal clerk, and I can attest to parcels being marked media mail being opened and resealed. It's called revenue protection, and it's not like lines longer because it's being done, the clerks at the post office handle your mail the least, there are people in processing plants and other buildings that WILL have the time to do it if the parcel doesn't fit the description. A rug rolled up in a cylinder won't make it media mail, for starters. If a box smells like cow shit it most likely will get opened either by a clerk or by haz-mat to verify contents.

Nope, the tape put in there wouldn't make the cow poo into media mail. Media mail is CDs, tapes, records, laserdiscs, books, any other media. Putting a CD in a package full of cheese doesn't make it media mail. To top it off, if you sent cow poo in a box and it leaked, it would create quite a stir at the post office, what with incresed scrutiny of mailed items. It's illegal to send infectious biological substances, and unless packaged for proper transfer, you could even get in trouble with the law. My advice is to find something else to sell. BTW anyone wanna buy some straw and wood chips? just kidding
