Have any of you guys heard about this project?
A description:
Quote:
The First Earth Battalion is a concept created by Jim Channon for a post- Vietnam US Military organised along New Age lines. Rather than using bullets and munitions, they would attempt to conquer the hearts and minds of the enemy using positive vibrations. Many of the ideas behind the First Earth Battalion have since found their way into mainstream PsyOps procedures for psychological warfare.
The activities of the First Earth Battalion are discussed at length in the book The Men Who Stare at Goats by Cardiff-born journalist Jon Ronson.
(from http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/First_Earth_Battalion)
It worries me that that Armed Forces would even think about wasting my tax money on "psychic warfare".
Here is the actually training manual created for the First Earth Battalion.

Interesting and odd stuff, that's for sure.

"United States military! Drop your weapons or we'll love!"
It's not too surprising...the military establishment will try ANYTHING to gain an upper hand. If they actually started seeing results from that, then I'd be very surprised.

You know that non-lethal foam stuff that hardens and traps things in it? They've actually adopted that from the manual and used it on rioters in Somalia, where it was a gigantic failure. I'm reading "The Men Who Stare at Goats", which is all about this project. It's actually a very funny, readable book.

Haha that's awesome, is the book about only that project or various non-lethal weapons they've tried?
I think rock & roll is one of the most effective weapons they've tried so far.

It's about the whole history of the project and the people enlisted to start it, but it goes into details about the methods used. I'm only 60 pages into it so far, so I'm sure it will go more in-depth.
