Laetiporus sulphureus: tonights dinner! (with pics)
    #4535704 - 08/14/05 11:37 PM (11 years, 3 months ago)

Went on a day hike around a creek in the lower Cascade mountains and stumbled upon some Laetiporus sulphureus!  Should see some oysters start poppin up soon   Sauteed them up and put them on top of boca burgers.  Didn't have the remarkably similar taste to chicken as I've heard they did, but maybe I didn't cook it enough (it had a very mild taste).  Either way, it was a yummy dinner!

Here's some pics.  The L. sulphureus looks to have been found by another mycophile with the big chunk missing, but left enough for me and my mate

Here's two pics of the creek we were hiking at... it was a beautiful day!

Man, I've gotta get up to the PNW to hunt. Your woods look so much different than ours. You'd probably say the samething about the southeast though :P

Lets trade places during the peak seasons :P

nice, those are supposed to be best when they're really young and tender, but I didn't really care for them even like that

found one king bolete pin up towards snoqualmie about a month ago, other than that I haven't seen any edibles since morel season. waiting for the rain to come and bring up the boletes, chants and matsis
