Incubation temps

I am hoping someone can help me. A lot of articles and posts placed on the boards here say to incubate at 80-84 degrees F. I have a graph in TMC that shows 86 degrees F for the best results for mycelium growth in P. cubensis. Does anyone know for sure which is better? (I know this is a very minute detail)

Any where from 80 to 86 deg. F and you will be more than fine...
If you're using a TiT with a fish tank heater than set the temp to 80 deg. F becasue heat WILL build up inside and raise it...

Incubate WHAT?
1. PF cake jars.
2. Seed/grain quart spawn jars.
3. Spawn Bags.
4. Bulk substrates (other than manure based)
5. Bulk substrate - manure based.
6. Size (volume) of Bulk Substrate.
There are a few variables.
1-2-3 from 78 to 86
3-4-5 depends on substrate composition & volume.
Manure based substrates - have a tendency to generate considerable heat - after spawn is added & tend to peak heat about 5 days after spawning. So much so - it can be detrimental to the mycelium.
Larger manure based substrates, can heat up - more than thin - smaller volume ones.
It is advisable to have a digital probe type temperature themometer , with which to monitor bulk substrate heat, plus means to cool them - if it becomes necessary.

I am doing a tub in tub set up, with quart jars of rye berries. I do have a dig. thermometer that is with the jars telling me the temperature of the inside of my tub. I saw an interesting graph in TMC that shows the optimum temp of 86 F (for P. Cubensis only). I don't know if this temperature is achieved inside the jar, or in the tub.

well if inside the TiT is around 80-83 degrees, the inside of the jars should be slightly a few degrees higher. shoot for 83 degrees inside the chamber and the jars should be at optimal temp
