The Shroomery is honestly very humbling
    #4535036 - 08/14/05 09:03 PM (11 years, 6 months ago)

After reading & posting here for some time, I've come to be in awe of all the different types of talents, wisdom, and knowledge many posters here exude. Granted, this is not always the case, but that?s true no matter where you go. When I first started to get an understanding of neurology & drugs, I thought I knew a whole lot and was relatively an expert in the field.

In certain threads, the discussion gets technical. For example, how much knowledge and equipment does it take for a person to be able to synthesis LSD? I know a small amount of chemistry, but many of the people here are able to make me scratch my head in wonder. How about the ethnobotany of some plant I?ve never heard of, in a tribe I?ve also never heard of? Easy to find that in the The Ethnobotanical Garden. The logic that comes out of the S & P board (and sometimes the lack of) is astonishing. I?ve learned plenty by just sitting and reading on the side lines. I could go on & on, whether it?s on politics, psychopharmacology, or experiences from trip reports. Considering all the depth the Shroomery has to offer, I often am left in awe of how much there is to learn about our world. Sometimes it?s humbling, but that?s not to discredit my own knowledge, just to be aware of how a community can have such a wide range of understanding of our world.

Stepping back and examining that, it?s pretty clear that if you can combine those different areas of knowledge that people here share, there is quite a lot to learn about life.

I?m not getting all gushy here, just an observation.

--------------------
The very nature of experience is ineffable; it transcends cognitive thought and intellectualized analysis. To be without experience is to be without an emotional knowledge of what the experience translates into. The desire for the understanding of what life is made of is the motivation that drives us all. Without it, in fear of the experiences what life can hold is among the greatest contradictions; to live in fear of death while not being alive.

Yeah, there is even a dude on another forum who tried to get high on DMT extracted from the Silver Maple tree....talk about obscure knowledge.

Yes, sometimes it's so obscure that you wonder whether it's real or not.

Speaking of which, I tried insufflating cat piss this weekend. Good shit, errr... piss.

The DMT is unfortunately in the bark...not the sap. Maple syrup ayahuasca might be tasty.

Yeah this place is awesome. I've been here a couple of weeks now and I'm most impressed.  I've been challenged, confronted, supported, loved... its great. Easily the best community I've seen on the web. At first I was a bit taken back my the mental competitiveness I observed but then I just realised its self reflection and let my feet feel the ground.

I just love to see so many different people with different backgrounds expressing themselves. Perhaps not necesarrily agreeing with everything each other says but there's a level of understanding and a broadness of topic that makes room for everyone to feel home. I haven't looked beyond the pub, cultivation forum and this one yet. THIS PLACE IS HUGE!!!!!

Good play.  :handth:

Has anybody tried extracting dmt from a human brain?

YA i agree, the shroomery can also sometimes be overwhelming. Kind of like when you walk into a bookstore and you see so many interesting books, and you want to buy them all but you can't.

There is SO much to learn, and there is still SO much that we don't know. This fact makes me dizzy...

For the past month or so though, i've been kind of letting go of my interest in learning new stuff, and i've just been partying everyday, chilling with lots of people, discovering random personalities, basically sharing golden moments with other human beings. I'm feeling great. I love people. I love you guys.

Better be careful there... depending on what the pancakes are made of, they may not go too well with the MAOI. (Assuming you are eating the DMT rather than smoking it.)

That's the other side of the Shroomery I love. It's great to chill at the Pub and just enjoy things. There is a forum for every need!
