new teks

hey all, a FOAF is wanting to try a new tek and was unsure of a few things. He grew some portabellas with cakes and what now, but now wants to move on to the flat pan method. He bought a bunch of rye grain and brown rive from the organic grocery. Should he grind this up into a powder(with coffee bean grinder or something of the sort) to make the substrtate as in the MMGG or cook the rice/grain and then combine with verm. and sterilize? The FOAF hasn't been able to find any specifics on the rye grain tek or the details about grinding up the brown rice yourself. Any and all help appreciated.

In the "sections" area of the shroomery go to grow/find and then to "mushroom links" to find a rye grain tek. Brown rice should be ground.
