I paid dearly for Peruvian Torches blessing
    #4534403 - 08/14/05 05:57 PM (11 years, 3 months ago)

Let's see, where to begin?

I received an order of peruvian torch powder and I was eager to test it out because it was a first time purchase from the company that I got it from. Normally, I would make mescaline tar from it using a simple alcohol extraction process that I have outlined before in other threads. Well, cash has been tight and I didn't have any grain alcohol on hand so I decided to make a little cactus tea. Never again.

I measured out 25 grams of powder(half of my normal dose) just to see if I hadn't been swindled.

I then heated 3 cups of water to boiling and slowly added the powder while stirring vigorously.

Next I added a teaspoon of apple cider vinegar to acidify the mix.

I lowered the heat to keep it at a slow boil and cooked it for close to an hour.

At this point the tea had lost most of its slimy texture and I strained out the powder and set it aside to dry. I plan on doing an alcohol extraction on it to test if I got all of the alkaloids from it.

The liquid which was left, I boiled down to approximately 1/2 cup.

I put it in the freezer to cool and then, over a period of about 15 minutes, I drank the concoction.

Almost immediately I began to feel a heaviness in my stomach like no other. It was only through sheer will that I was able to keep from purging the drink before it had time to take effect. Through gastronomical pains, the likes of which that I hope never to face again, I persevered and after around 3 hours I was experiencing definite effects[wavy visuals, euphoria, etc.]. I had to enjoy these effects, however, from the vantage point of my toilet.

Every 30 mins. to an hour I was sent running back to my now beloved seat of porcelain and plastic. Explosive diarrhea is an understatement. Had I drank a bucket of paint, I could of been a Wagner power spray paint gun.

Never have I in all my experiences with mescalito, paid so dearly for a glimpse into heaven.

I do not regret the experience, for it was a learning venture. I now know why it is so much better to do as I have most often done before and go with an alcohol extraction.
I also now know that I have another great source for a great sacrament.

Just for a time reference. I started drinking about 8:30pm and the effects lasted up until around 9:30 am today.

sorry to hear that man. I've never had too much of a problem with tea from fresh cactus material. How do you do the alcohol extraction?

I'd like to hear about the alcohol extraction too, the mescal bearing cacti seem really cool and I'd love to try it.

What about taking Immodium before you drink it?

Just soak the cactus in 190 proof grain alcohol for a few days shaking the contents periodically.

Drain off the alcohol and soak again with fresh alcohol. Repeat this 2 or 3 times, saving the alcohol each time.

Evaporate the alcohol(away from any flame)and you end up with a tar-like substance that contains your alkaloids.

A teaspoon or so is a nice ride for me. I can't say what you may like.
