S&P Insurgency
#4533485 - 08/14/05 10:41 AM (18 years, 7 months ago) |

In a recent thread where there was a genuine and sincere effort at conflict resolution with very positive results (which is what Spirituality is all about - as opposed to astral travel for instance), it seems some sort of alert went out over the wire and insurgents from other forums decided they were unhappy with people coming closer together and hence; felt the need to interrupt this healing process.
I am curious as to the motivation of such folks. Why would it irk someone to see peace and harmony instead of strife?

some people get joy from causing chaos i would assume it is just a part of human nature given the nature of humanity over the past say three thousand years

well speaking generally in this hypothetical assumption it is the nature of the universe and thus of all things, for chaos, or entropy.. to maintain a 'mix' or 'balance' between that of peace and order.

It's simple diffusion really.
There are some people who want unity and love, and others who want discord and chaos. In one thread, all the unity and love people were bundled together, and it was only a matter of time until the chaos and discord people started to diffuse into the thread and push apart the bonds. You'll never have oxygen in half the room and nitrogen in the other half, so why expect a similar product on the internet?

I don't think so. I believe I set a new standard for nebulosity.

Let me ask you Swami, Is this real curiosity or are you trying to rub salt into some wounds? If it is curiosity then you have not made much of a study of human nature in your 50 years. Which surprises me.

Yes, I am curious as to motivation. I do not see the Shroomery members as a "normal" cross-section of humanity and S&Pers are further from average yet again.
Most of us here are seekers of truth, happiness or some other lofty goal, no?
I see your question as one who is trying to irk me.

Well we have a differing view on this one. I think people are motivated by basically the same things all around. It's just a matter of degree. It just seemed obvious to me, and I was surprised it was not to you. So I thought (you being human) you might be trying to get a rise out of these people that want desention. I thought maybe you wanted a little also. Often when people are finally on top of a situation they go for a knockout. As I wasn't sure, what your motives were, I framed it as a question.

Wise thoughts.
-------------------- "A warrior is a hunter. He calculates everything. That's control. Once his calculations are over, he acts. He lets go. That's abandon. A warrior is not a leaf at the mercy of the wind. No one can push him; no one can make him do things against himself or against his better judgment. A warrior is tuned to survive, and he survives in the best of all possible fashions." ― Carlos Castaneda

A knockout?
Not sure where you are going. Seems like you would rather not directly face any issues and see that as more loving. I think issues not addressed will linger or grow larger by pretending everything is copacetic.
Most threads here require no real inner search or discovery and everybody is safe and warm - and unchanged.

Right Swami.
I agree with you.
However, I think you often do not really offer valid arguments when you challenge people. Sometimes, I feel like you throw out some words or something, and it definately is funny to watch them not be able to get around, but I still feel like most of these obstacles are not sound and you know they aren't sound. Still it's good to seek clarity. It's good to let these stupid motherfuckers know there is a next level beyond the hippy bullshitw when they haven't thought through it.

the arguments offered are beside the point. people believe what they want to believe. it is much more fun to stir the pot with vagaries than actually engage someone on an issue that they have made their minds up on already.
