casing layer for huautlas
    #4533571 - 08/14/05 01:21 PM (11 years, 3 months ago)

i've been following roadkill's poo tek and i need some opinions...
i pasturized last night, let the poo drain overnight in the sink, processed my cakes, then birthed them this morning.
one part of the tek says that you should be careful with fast fruiting strains, i'm using huautlas for the first time so i don't really know what to expect. anyone have experience w/ the huautla strain? do you guys think that i should bother with a casing layer? figured i'd throw this out there before it's time to fruit.....

Go with the caseing layer. You wont regret it. I had to patch my Hua caseing a few times, very agressive myc.

Yeah, verm is key. But I would not use just verm. I use a 50% Coco Coir / 50% Verm mix.

you can use just verm as a casing but will get better results from one of the other teks, 50/50+, coir/verm.
good luck

not sure about the coir, i haven't used it.
aren't you using a fruiting chamber of some kind? you don't want to keep the foil on if you are fruiting.
3 major pinning triggers: light, fresh air, and temp drop.

Check out local hydroponics shops. They always have it.

This is a cheaper brand - but brands I have used I had 100% success.

the container i am using is about 6" deep, i have another one just like it. i was thinking maybe i could invert the extra container onto the casing to make a bigger enclousure? they are clear so light would still get to them. does that sound like an ok idea? the container with the poo has ductape around it so light won't get below the surface.

and civ,  thanks for the info, i'll have to run out and get some coir this week!
