cobweb on casing druing end of fruiting?
    #453251 - 11/09/01 06:30 PM (22 years, 6 months ago)

i came home today and looked at my babies and it seems the mycelium under two of my clusters of almost mature fruits has turned a tiny bit grayish. one section was really rhizomorphic, and the strings have seemed to turn a little grayish. the casing's in fruiting stage now (has been for a week+), and i thought cobweb couldn't start except in the dark. i haven't been in my room much the past two days, but there's been at least a couple hours of light (plus a little ambient sunlight through a window shaded by trees and a building. it looks like the mycelium itself turned gray. is this cobweb? is it just growing over top where the mycelium was?

if it is cobweb, can i use puscle's fix and spray with baking soda and water, or will that destroy the fruits? should i spray with baking soda and just pick all of the fruits even though they're not quite ready? help!?

Yes, use baking soda asap. You can also sprinkle regular table salt over the affected area--this works also. In addition, pick and discard any mushrooms in and surrounding the affected area.

It could be mycelia trying to breathe..You said you have only been in there a few times in the past few days..other than fanning I hope?? Mist/Fan at least 3 times a day to clear out the CO2...this will also stave off enemy spores...
