See for yourself.
Speaking of Praying Mantises, here's a Nerd Trivia:
What species of aliens does this following insect most closely resemble from the Voyager Star Trek series?

Yeah, we always make fun of those goofy fuckers at our mantis gatherings. It's not all peace and love in the insect world!
I feel so inadequate in terms of geekdom; I have no idea which race that resembles. I'm only familiar with TNG and TOS

I like it when arthopods hunt and kill vertebrates. A sign of things to come.

that's a scary thought for me. hard to get into detail, but i tripped hard once and saw/remember crazy things like those people during war who wear those gas masks, they look exactly like some kind of insectoid, close to a mantis in my imagination. anyways, all those mantis or insect looking soldiers going to war...what you posted instantly made me think of that even though it was years ago i had that individual thought.

Praying mantis' are awesome. This one was at my favorite state park in the middle of the road. It was totally looking at me while I took this picture. If I moved my hand around it's body it's whole head would move too:
Then after awhile it got mad at me and was ready to fight:
Definitely smarter than other bugs in my opinion.....

i almost stepped on a mantis yesterday, it jumped up on my leg tho, i stuck him in my moms flower garden. Anyone remember when you used to get fined for killing them if caught?

That's why they're so damn cool, they're one of the few insects that will seemingly make eye contact with you.
It's creepy as hell when you're going to pick one up and they look back at you like "Hey, man... wtf?"
