First batch with a p.c

This is furbys first batch , and he has a few questions hopefully someoneone can answer a few with suggegtions.

1. Do you need a towel on the bottom of the p.c or is that only with boiling method?
2. How much water should be used , furby's using 10 1/2 pint jars , he was thinking 2 seperate cookings 5 jars stacked each time.Hes using a 8qt presto.
3 should he leave the tape on the holes and also have some tin foil under the rings? Or leave the lids loose he's looking for the best method of getting rid of contams without letting the water inn..
4. After inculation should the tape be over all four holes or the rings let a bit loose before placed in the incubator he wants to make sure they will have the best method for enough air hopefully without the contams.

Thanks a ton in advance,Furby plans on cooking the first batch tommaro , he'll be sure to post results further down the line.

1) Use a towel, if your PC didn't come with a cooking rack.
2) About two inches.
3) Tape the holes, foil over the lids. Lids sort of tight.
4) Leave the tape on until about 50% colonization. Lids sort of loose.

I was wondering about the tape myself, I have actually been taping my jars ( well, the 15 jars I innoculated last night were sterilized taped ) but wasn't sure when to remove the tape :)
