I'm kinda suprised by your hostility towards 'niceness' DoctorJ. Yeah, it can be insincere at times in places where employees have to interact with the public, but what would you have them do? Ironically, I bet that if you got scowls and rude remarks from the employees of some establishment you'd be the first one to complain.

And you keep talking about people being honest. Well, what is 'honest'? Honestly, I am a terminally happy and friendly person. I am always polite and friendly with strangers and I am rarely in a bad mood. So am I insincere when I meet someone, smile, and say something positive? Unfortunately, you'd probably accuse me of it if you met me. Maybe I am just one of those "people persons" that you seem to despise.

It sounds to me like you have a lot of hostility inside of you. I just don't understand why anyone would have a problem with people making an effort to be friendly. Yet you seem to hold some kind of grudge against society for expecting you to act in a civil manor. Being polite and friendly is not fake or dishonest unless you are just an angry, miserable person inside. I feel sorry for you.

Find a job you enjoy and human interaction won't matter anymore. Get a job where you don't have to deal with people if you want to be a dick.

I'm not much of a "people person" but i'm friendly. Shyness so to speak. Really if I have a task and it involves talking to someone then yeah no sweat. But i don't do small talk, much. But customer service kicks ass. When I bust my ass to make money I don't want to bust my ass to spend it. So fuck rude asses when I'm spending money.

Too many people don't realize where blame lies in business anyway so for most to get angry is like celebrating winning the lotto before the numbers have been drawn. Chill out, work for your company and your company will work for you. That should be the bases for everyone's job search. Turn it down if it's not like that.
