Whoa man I just saw this movie last night. This is simply the most messed up movie Ive seen. Couldnt follow the plot that well, but a well constructed movie nonetheless. And I was sober! I cant begin to imagine what it would be like with me messed up. The whole movie seemed constructed like a trip. It was in the comedy section of the movie store, but seemed to serious for me to have any humor. Anybody seen this movie messed up? Whats it like?

I couldnt follow it sober either. It's too hard to understand what they're saying even if you're only high. That movie is awsome though. I thought it was super-funny. Especially this part "I didn't have to tell the poor bastard about the bats... He'd be seeing 'em soon enough" (as he swings around fly-swatter while driving + tripping). The movie is a bad influence though... but then I guess so is getting friends to try shrooms after getting them hyped about tripping from watching it.

True, the book almost always is. Still, I thought Gilliam did a really good job of translating the book to film. I don't think he fucked anything up.

I personally liked it. I tought the directing and filming was excellent. I think, personally, that it would be hard to create those effects. Must be cool to see messed up, mabey i'll try it....

Fear and Loathing was a very good movie, a very good adaptation of Hunter S. Thompson's book...not a literal translation...which would be impossible to put into film, but art derived from art. You have 2 hours and you need to utilize the basics of the story and cinematic effect to put the viewer into the mind state of the drug addled mutant...Terry Gilliam did a great job. If you liked the movie and the sense of 'out of control'...watch the Movie 'Brazil'...it's by Gilliam as well and is brilliant - as good a prediction of the future as I've ever seen on film - the style of which directly influenced Fear and Loathing.

I got stoned and watched fear and loathing last night. Very very different experience, but I understood the whole movie alot better in my altered state. The bad thing was when they went into Circus circus I thought I died and went to hell. I knew thered be clowns in hell. Still, I reccommend it to anyone.
