Are Shrooms more important because they occur naturally?

Hey,
I've been having an ongoing discussion with a friend about the merits of LSD versus mushrooms. I use both, but have a soft spot for the LSD experience, especially the 'mischievious energy' I seem to feel when on it. My friend takes the Mckenna approach that shrooms are preferable because they come from the field, not the lab.
LSD appeared when it did because Albert Hoffman experienced "A peculiar presentiment,". What was behind this? I believe the universe decided that the human race needed a little tweaking.
Mckenna himself has admitted to taking LSD around 150 times himself. Would he have cultivated his theories without it?
-------------------- I believe that if people would learn to use LSD's vision-inducing capability more wisely, under suitable conditions, in medical practice and in conjunction with meditation, then in the future this problem child could become a wonder child. -- Dr. Albert Hoffman

No, both are psychedellics.
If you believe one will give you a less spiritual trip, or one is organic and has greater abiltiy to reach god through plant spirits or whatever then those ideas and concepts will manifest in you mind during the trip.

I don't understand when people say LSD is "unnatural." Everything that exists on this planet is attached to nature in some way, even the things that destroy it.

I prefer to think about them both as powerful psycedelics and should be respected. But LSD is my substance to measure what happens to me since you can; man made it so he knows how much chemical is in it whereas when I take mushrooms I hope for an experience much different than the one I had previously even if I take the same amount as a prevoius experience. You probably noticed that they have a different feel and that is where my opinion comes from.

They are two totally different chemical compounds that, for me at least, do two very different things. Yes one was made in a lab, but that doesn't detract from the realness of the experience you get from it. Shrooms come the ground, sure, but so did ergot (the mold on wheat in which LSD was synthesized from). Both are REAL. LSD gives me this feeling of "realness" with the world, and mushrooms take me to god. They are both very good substances, I can't say one is better than the other.

As far as I'm concerned they're just different chemicals.
