THE TOP FOLDS DOWN?!?! You've done found the convertible mushroom. Congratulations, I think you should frame it.

that is not a detailed description.
we really need pics if you expect us to guess with only that info.
they aren't pan subbs if they have white stems.
Accurate mushroom descriptions
It is critical that you describe mushrooms fully and accurately in order to get a proper identification.
A good picture of the mushrooms is invaluable, but not required. Along with the pictures YOU ARE REQUIRED to provide the following data:
* Habitat (where [woods, pasture, state, province, country, altitude] and what [soil, dung, wood (dead, living, what kind of wood?)] does it grow on) * Characteristics of the gills (color, attached/not, gills/pores, etc) * Characteristics of the stem (length, diameter, color, texture, hollow/solid, thin/thick, etc) * Characteristics of the cap (diameter, color, texture, conical/spherical, convex/concave, etc) * Spore print color (very important!) * Color that the mushroom bruises * Scent of the mushroom * Anything else you might find important

Pictures are rarely enough to make an ID on mushrooms. It's more involved than that. Take a spore print. Do not eat the mushrooms.

Cut the stem off as close to the gills as possible. Place the cap gills side down on a piece of paper. Cover with a glass or bowl. Wait 6-8 hours, over night is best. Uncover the printing mushroom, remove the cap. There will be a deposit of spores under the cap. Tell us the color of it. If there isn't on there, try wiping you finger where they cap was, the print may have been white.

if you have rince the mushrooms off and collect the water from it and the water is purple does that usually mean they are hallucinogenic
