Fighting your own personal battles?

Isn't it pointless? Aren't those battles, in which victory gets carried on by humanity hopefully into eternity, more important than those faught for the good of the individuals?

The individual ALWAYS loses, because he dies, and everything he ever "won" decays with him. Shouldn't that which is inevidable simply be accepted instead of fought? The energy that is being spilled on the deathbed could be used for that which is not laying on a deathbed.

what do you think?

Considering the organised nature of human society (we care for progress and think of future), is it the socially positive way of the individual to put the good of progress of society above his own good?

This is unclear. Explain personal battles. For instance, "personal battles" in my life consist of fighting the strong tendency to feel socially anxious, and fighting against my unwillingness to work hard. I can't relate my idea of "personal battles" to whatever you are saying at all. How can I be of any use to humanity if I accept my laziness and insecurity?

I don't see how social anxiety can prevent you from being usefull to the society

On the extreme end of the spectrum of social anxiety, a person would want no contact with anyone. He or she would be useless to society.

My uncle is like that, he is an old man living alone, pissing in a collection of milk bottles under his table

personal battles:

Fighting to make sure your life is pleasant regardless of any consequences, and living like anything that happens beyond your time of death doesn't matter.

If you cant find value in things while your alive everything is worthless. The only escape from that is kleos or influence on society. If you live only for those your waisting your life. If personal battles make you happy, thats what you should do. Not weighing consequences is a problem, but I dont see why you would consider that a necessary part of personal battles.

but lets say that your happyness means many lives living unhappy in the future, yet it is beyond your day of death so it does not concern you.

for example, you are an owner and a boss in a company, and you pay your people really poor, don't pay the taxes because you report smaller incom than there actually is etc etc.

all your workers bring home less than they need to feed their children, their children grow up poor (because your workers work many years in your company) and their lives have other consequences etc.
etc.

but in the end, it doesn't matter what you left behind your grave, becuase that world does not exist for you because you can't feel or experience anything, so it doesn't concern you

See, now you've almost explained what you meant when you first said "personal battles". You meant efforts to get personal gain at the expense of the welfare of others. Do you not realize that you did not say this in your original post?

i'll make it real easy. you said that personal battles are "those faught for the good of the individuals" and those "for his own good." So, I asked you to explain. you haven't really, and this thread is still going nowhere.
