Loss of humidity, need help fast.
    #4523224 - 08/11/05 07:37 PM (11 years, 5 months ago)

ok here's a pic of my FC. it's is a rubbermaid (don't know the gallon capacity sorry) with about 2.5" of perlite in the bottom (hydrated of course) and 3 layers of suran wrap serving as a view window.

i mist this thing 3 or 4 times a day and all the cakes have wells but whenever i open it to fan it there is little or no humidity and all the cakes are blueing out of dehydration. in addition it's been about a week and the cakes haven't done anything. im really needing some help because i have a fully colonized casing that's ready to go in this thing, and i know those things really need the right rH. should i make my lid more air tite? should i not fan so much?
i bought a humidifier but without a filter or knowing how to use it (it was thrifted) i don't want to hook it up. please help me save these cakes and this casing! it's my first grow and it was going so well.!!! thanks.

Is your perlite wet?

so his perlite is wet.

did you dunk your cakes after they were birthed?

sounds like a humidity issue.
get a humidity gauge...if you can.

what are your temps like?

how much fresh air exchanges are you doing?

give em light!~

make sure that your perlite is moist enough.
spray the inside walls of your fruiting chamber.

and have some patience.

It could very well be the fanning crushing the humidity, it can't get a chance to build up. To combat this problem, just put a bunch of holes in the side of your chamber stuffed with polyfill, then you won't have to fan and humidity will build nicely.

i know it's a humidity issue, i don't need a gauge for that. though i do need one. temps are in the mid 70s, i fan for 1 min. 3 times a day, and they are on a 12hr light interval. i have sprayed the inside walls and the perlite on top is somewhat wet to the touch...
thanks for the comments though, ill keep trying!
will this ruin my cakes though or are they savable once i find the problem?
