today i inoculated my jars of brf/vermiculite... but i had a problem.. the needle on my syringes didnt fully go down into the cake, i think it may have just gotten into the dry layer of vermiculite. i sure hope that they work. damnit.

how thick of dry verm layer do you have? could you see any spots where the liquid ran down the cake or were you shooting it into the middle of the cake?
peace

no don't shake brf jars, you will just end up packing the substrate tight and then get very little if any colonization.
if you seen some run down the jars side then you will be ok, no worries.
give them some time and be patient. don't be running to them all the time and handling them, check them every few days. the less you handle them the better off they will be.

success coming your way, can ya feel it?
peace

I'll bet you a 10 pack of Bubble Yum that they grow. I double-dare somebody to say his jars might not grow....

Dude, he would have to pound them against the side of his leg to do that..

But in any case, the jars are inoculated, and unless he used .0000000000034 CCs of spore solution, it ran down into the cake. Vermiculite is rock, does water usually pass through a bunch of rocks? :rofl2:

no he really wouldn't have to pound them against his leg to compact them enough to slow or stop colonization.
not rock that absorbs water.

can you quote me as to where i said it didn't run down into the cake? huh, huh, well can ya? no i didn't think so.

You were implying that if the verm layer was too thick that the inoculation could have possibly been absorbed within a non-nutritious verm layer, and therefore not made it into the cake.

I'm simply giving him the hope and opportunity to have the faith that you were telling him about, because I know that because of gravity, the absorbency of vermiculite would not be enough to halt the flow of spores down into the cake, unless he used a totally minuscule amount of spore solution.

So therefore, he has nothing to worry about.

I was adding knowledge to the boards, excuse me. :smirk:

this is the wisdom that you are adding to the boards. not looking to get into a flame fest here about this neither. but sorry you were not adding anything worthy of reading imo.

the vermiculite could absorb all of the spore soloution that was injected, depends
on how much was used, more over the wet vermiculite can act as a wick and draw in
contams, there is a reason that it's a 'dry' vermiculite layer

you don't think that an overly thick dry verm layer will soak in a 1/2 cc of water? i will have to agree to disagree on that one.
yeah totally agree with you that he has nothing to worry about. especially after he posted that he did see some run down the sides.

peace

I'm not flaming you. Simmer down buckaroo, I'm not going any further with this. I like you, and I was simply adding something. I may be in a little bit of a rambunctious mood, but what I said is right, and I do not dislike you, you have given me some good advice in the past and helped me significantly, and I am grateful.

Peace brother, this ain't shit, let's let it go and smoke a bowl, shall we?

No, because it comes out of the syringe forcefully because of the restrictiveness of the needle, and this  inertia would likely carry it past about 10 inches of verm before absorption would have the time to absorb it all.

If you really wanna get all into this, we can always do a little experiment...

absolutely depends on how much was injected and how thick of a layer of dry verm there was.

the fact of the matter is that we are totally screwing this guys thread up and i won't take this any further.
