Babbling on about Babylon

I read this amazing book when I was younger called "The Alphabet Versus the Goddess"... it took me through all of humanity's known history, which was quite interesting. But what seperated it from a boring history book is that it proposed a radical idea. It put forth the idea that... certain human inventions, or technologies, actually RE-WIRED our brains. This makes alot of sense to me, when you think about it. Before the written word, societies were more tribal and they all shared the quality of worshipping a 'great goddess' figure. Incidently, when written word gradually spread itself into human consciousness, we shifted from a female-worshipping society to a male-worshipping one... one in which we continue to this very day. Studies have shown that reading a book involves mostly the left hemisphere of our brains, which could atrophy the right hemisphere unless balanced with certain other exercies. This is where computers, and more importantly the internet, fit into this theory. The women's liberation movement completely coincided with computers, and has only grown with things like the internet. Not since before the written word were women on a such an equal and respected level. It's awesome. Women, as a whole, can handle worship much more ... peacefully than man. When a man is worshipped, it feeds his ego, which causes him to get addicted to power over others, in an aggressive sort of way. We can see evidence of this for the past thousands of years, first in Kings and Pharoahs, to Dictators and Presidents... it's all the same shit, really. We are programmed to require men in "control" of the situation. What's funny is that they aren't in control of anything!!! Men are just better at pretending they are. No human being is really in control of anything besides themselves, and in turn the communities that they erect with other human beings... But still, the fact is that we aren't in control of anything but ourSELVES. We will never really be in control of Nature, for example. Attempting it is laughable and childish, and could never come close to achieving nature's full complexity! Anyways I think I've lost my point. It's just crazy to think about how our technology is affecting us in such FUNDAMENTAL ways, so much so that we can't actually recognize it happening, unless we step outside of the brief instant of human existence... Babble off.

I think we are back to woman worship society. Today a woman only needs to report verbal sexual abuse, and the mighty men fall down.

porn industry is maybe directed at men, but women are the ones who looked upon as queens of sex. Porn industry is a woman-worship club.
exept for the few sick individuals who post rape videos are stuff like that

Yes, I meant it was focused on woman-worship. Of course, only a certain TYPE of woman is worshipped there.

When pr0n first started blowing up in the 60's and 70's, it was viewed by some as a "liberation" for women, to be able to spread their hippy muffs to the world. Playboy back then was full of class, and I'm sure the Playboy mansion has had it's share of psychedelic orgies. Hugh Hefner was like the hedonistic Tim Leary!

There are many ways of worshiping a woman, each way comes from different ways of perception. porn is a kind of worship coming from the simples and most primitive way of perception: feeling of touch (even though most of the time YOU are actually the one touching yourself ),sexual urge, etc.

I'm not saying women can't be corrupted. I'm saying that they are much less violent and aggressive in their power trips. Less wars and such.

the duel of men and woman
mens weapon of choice: a gun or a sword
womens weapon of choice: a poison
Men are like big gorillas, you can get them angry, they growl, make a lot of noise, hit a thing or two, then go back to sleep, and you can sleep on their belly Women are like cats, when you get them angry, they will cuddle with you until you fall to sleep then they will strungle you with their fluffy tail

We might not know that until they were fully in a power position. I just don't know. One thing that has always interested me is that women are the primary influence on child boys, in their formative years. At least that's true in our culture. Yet we are a very warlike culture. Go figure.

Most women don't teach boys to fight... that's the Dad's job, or the TV's.

They don't teach them not to it seems. I don't think you can break it down the middle of sex like this.

Okay so maybe I'm over-simplifying things, generalizing it a bit to the black and white... There ARE general qualities that contrast between man and woman, however.

I agree. But these things may be the result of circumstance and if that changed ... well who knows. If women were larger and stronger ( amazon) they may well be just as violent and warlike. Or if they didn't have to nurture offspring. I'm just questioning things a bit for clarification. I really don't have answers. I am not so sure that there was even a time when the world was matriarchal?

There was... before written language, most societies revolved around goddess worship.

They may have worshiped the goddess. Does that mean that the day to day culture was based in female attributes? Do we know what the male role in daily life was before written records? I'm asking, I don't know.

Well it's hard to know, of course, because there is no written records of the time. The reason we know they worshipped a great goddess figure is the various archeological finds that back it up, like statues and such.
And this wasn't just in an isolated tribe or area... The goddess-worshipping theme was common in indigenous cultures all over the world.

I know about those. But really they may not tell us that much. Societies worshiped the fact that females gave birth. They saw the connection in nature. But that doesn't tell who dominated daily affairs or what the emotional climate of the group was.
