Old Colonized Jar - Still viable?
    #4522450 - 08/11/05 04:36 PM (12 years, 3 months ago)

back around the time of Feb., I tried growin some shrooms. I got really busy with work, school, and a psycho chic - so everything went to hell due to lack of comitment. I got my head clear now and I'm going to give it another go. So I've got about 40 jars full of various molds (ewww!), but going through them, I found one (1) fully colonized jar! It's pretty old, looks healthy to me. Is anyone aware if a jar becomes 'unfruitable' after a period of time (we're talkin about 6 months here)? -Thanks anyone who is experienced and can help. Peace - A :mushroom2:

If it is not contaminated, or totaly dryed out
-->it should still be good to go.

I had a neglected, fully colonized jar turn into a little tiny yellow mini-cake after a number of months. Reminded me of a shrunken head. lol

I ended up tossing it, but that was just what I felt like doing.

I have no idea if it would have grown, but at the time I was convinced that it wouldn't.
