Is Hardwood bark OK

I'm about to build a bed and I cannot find Alder chips,wrong coast. Next choice I have seen is maple chips. The only thing I can find locally is shredded hardwood bark. Is it ok to use this or should I painstakingly hand chip up some maple. This is an outdoor bed for Psilocybe Cyanescens.

every hard wood i know of is ok to use, especialy the bark. i don't know about shredded bark but i know they love the rigid bark such as poplar and oak. animal bedding works great. the only animal bedding i could find where pine and cedar which are two big no-no's. the best chips i've used were birch, beech, poplar, hemlock, hickory, and maple chips work great too. good luck
