Drying Agents...

I know you're supposed to use some kind of dessicant in your drying chamber. Would it be possible to use the silica gel bags that come with shoes that say "DO NOT EAT" on em?

Yeah, several fistfuls of them. Just break the seal on the wallet and buy a bag of dessicant.
