Brown rice?
    #4519498 - 08/10/05 09:54 PM (11 years, 3 months ago)

OK so I was grinding up my brown rice and my coffee grinder broke after I grounded up about a cup and a half. So I put the rest in the blender to grind it up. The blender didn't grind it up all the way so my substrate looks like it has pebbles the size of pin heads in it. Will This affect my substrate in anyway?

Yes, it matters a lot. Powder diffuses and distributes some nutritional value. Chunks do practically nothing for you.

:mushroom2:  It may affect the water absorption.  Try to get it as fine as you can, then sift out the bigger pieces.  GL!   :mushroom2:

Ya, I burned 2 cheap coffee grinders that way. Next time, buy a good one. I found a $30 Krups one at salv. army for $1, and it not only doesnt burn out, but it make the BR way more powdery than the cheap ones. GL.
