Cooling the fruiting chamber...
    #4519369 - 08/10/05 09:14 PM (11 years, 3 months ago)

So right now for incubation the temp is fine, but I'm wonderng how I'm going to get my terrarium to cool off for the fruiting chamber.
It's a twenty gallon aquarium, with perlite humidification, and is aired out several times a day using a small fan.
But what I'm beginning to wonder is how I'm going to lower the temperature in the tank to induce fruiting. Any suggestions other than a cool mist or ultrasonic.
Perhaps maybe something with ice packs... -strokes goatee area in a thoughtful way-

And stood awhile in thought.

I'm assuming that you are not using any heat source, is that right? If you are using a heat source, simply remove it. If you are not using a heat source and the incubation temps are achieved from the ambient room temp, place the terrarium into a room with a fan to circulate the air.

Allow me to clue you in on some information. The temps don't have to be exact. The best conditions for fruiting can range from 68-78 degrees. The introduction of light and plenty of fresh air exchange will be more than enough to induce fruiting.

I threw my thermometer away months ago and I'm growing like a banshee.

Frozen gallons or 2 liters of water, if the grow is small enough or a portable a/c unit..worth the 70-100 dollar investment if the grow is big enough

It's eight jars.
I think I'm going to have to buy a bunch of water bottles and keep freezing them and putting them at random intervals. Nope, no heating device.
